Life Is Strange: Remastered was released earlier this year on PC and last-gen consoles. Current-generation console owners were disappointed by the lack of PS5 and Series X/S support, but the good news came when the 60 FPS patch was announced in February. If you’ve been waiting for Life Is Strange to begin: Remastered on current-gen consoles, today might be the perfect day provided you’re on PlayStation.
The promised 60 FPS patch is available on PlayStation 5 right now, with Xbox Series X patches coming soon. Details about whether the optional 60 fps mode operates at the same resolution as the previous 30 fps cap weren’t provided. It is worth noting that this update does not convert the package into a native application. Life is Strange: Remastered is still running under the Backwards Compatibility Layer.
Just as the original Twitter thread announced the patch, the Xbox Series S was not named in today’s announcement. We’re still just seeing enhancements to the Xbox Series X from Microsoft. This is not too surprising given the lack of proper support of the current generation.
We’ve already seen a lot of native current-gen games from Halo Infinite’s campaign to Borderlands: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands with different framerate goals and missing modes on the Series S. The hardware discrepancy between the Series X and Series S made 60 fps mode more difficult to implement on Microsoft’s entry-level machine, with the added limitations of running under backwards compatibility.
